Former Tour de France champion Sir Bradley Wiggins has announced that he will launch his own professional cycling team this year.
The 34-year-old has created the team, which will be called WIGGINS, to primarily focus on road racing, but the aim is to achieve team pursuit gold in the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Wiggins will join the team in early May and will be joined alongside eight other riders, including Steven Burke, Mark Christian, Jon Dibben, Owain Doull, Iain Paton, Daniel Patten, Andy Tennant and Michael Thompson.
In a statement, Wiggins said: "Cycling has given me everything. Now I want to build something to inspire kids and to reach all those people who might be on the fringes of the sport. My message is simple - if I can do it, then so can you."
Earlier this week, Wiggins confirmed that he will leave Team Sky in April.
