England batsman Jonathan Trott will make his return to cricket in April for county side Warwickshire.

The 32-year-old has been out of action since November when he was forced to leave England's Ashes tour of Australia due to a stress-related illness.

Dennis Amiss, chairman of Trott's Warwickshire benefit committee, has now confirmed that Trott will make his comeback in a friendly against Gloucester before looking to return to the national setup.

"He's doing very well," Amiss is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "He's had a great rest, which is very important, and he is raring to go again.

"Cricket is his passion and I believe he has qualities, as we've seen, to be able to score a mass of runs for Warwickshire to get himself back into the England side and regain his position.

"I think it was essentially burnout. The England and Wales Cricket Board has helped him while he has been back. Everybody has given him a lot of help. Rest has been the most important thing."

Trott joined Warwickshire in 2002 after moving to England from South Africa.
