Jonathan Trott out of Ashes with stress-related illness

Jonathan Trott will miss the remainder of the Ashes with a stress-related illness.

England batsman Jonathan Trott will miss the remainder of the Ashes series and fly home with a stress-related illness.

The news comes as a huge blow to the Three Lions just days after being comfortably beaten by 381 runs by Australia in the first Test in Brisbane.

Trott struggled at The Gabba, scoring just 19 runs in two innings as he failed to cope with the bowling of Mitchell Johnson.

"I don't think it is right that I'm playing knowing that I'm not 100%," said Trott.

"I cannot currently operate at the level I have done in the past. My priority now is to take a break from cricket so that I can focus on my recovery."

The second Test in Adelaide gets underway on December 5.
