Graeme Smith feels that England are well-equipped to retain the Ashes when Australia visit in 2013.

South Africa captain Graeme Smith has tipped England to defeat Australia during next summer's Ashes.

Smith's side emerged victorious from a three-match Test series with England earlier this year to go top of the rankings, before clinching a 1-0 serious success over the Aussies earlier today.

Having seen both nations up close in recent months, Smith believes that the home conditions will play into England's favour in 2013.

"It's obviously a very careful line to tread here in Australia and I've been asked this question a few times lately," Smith said told reporters. "I think being able to adapt and play well in England is going to be Australia's challenge.

"Being a home series for England, I'd probably have to say that they'll be favourites."

England are currently second in the rankings, with Australia in third.
