Marcus Trescothick believes that England would be wise to call up Nick Compton to the Ashes squad following Jonathan Trott's departure from Australia.
Trott decided to leave the Three Lions squad from their Ashes tour Down Under on Monday in a bid to focus on his recovery from a stress-related illness, and Trescothick feels that Somerset teammate Compton would be a perfect replacement.
"He's an obvious candidate to be shipped out isn't he," Trescothick told Sky Sports News.
"It almost highlights that Compton and James Taylor should have been sent out with the EPP or the Lions, or allocated into that part of the world to get some practice."
The second Test in Adelaide gets underway on December 5.
