England bowler Stuart Broad has admitted that he and his teammates were not "overly aware" of the issues that Jonathan Trott has been dealing with.
The 32-year-old left the squad earlier this week due to a stress-related illness, after competing in England's first Ashes Test defeat to Australia.
"Trotty's obviously been around the England setup for the last four or five years and is a hugely popular member," Broad told BBC Radio 5 live.
"First of all he knows he's got all the support of everyone out here. I don't suppose the squad were overly aware of the trouble he had, but it all turns to making sure he gets right now. Everyone over here in Australia is hoping he does that as soon as he can."
The second Test gets underway in Adelaide next week.
