Floyd Mayweather Jnr cruises past Saul Alvarez

Floyd Mayweather Jnr eases past Saul Alvarez with a majority points decision in Las Vegas.

Floyd Mayweather Jnr has beaten Saul Alvarez with a majority points decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather eventually claimed the win with a 114-114, 116-112, 117-111 score, with controversial judge CJ Ross scoring the fight as a draw.

The 36-year-old was rarely troubled by the threat of Alvarez as the unbeaten 'Money' put on a superlative display to inflict the first defeat of his opponent's career.

In typical Mayweather fashion, he was content to avoid entering into unnecessary conflict, preferring instead to dip in and out with punches and avoid the Mexican's attacks with his trademark defensive skills.

The 23-year-old managed to rock his opponent somewhat in the 10th, but it was a minor blip on Mayweather's copy book as he regained composure to see out the fight in relative comfort.

Mayweather, who reportedly earned around £26m for the fight, extended his record to 45-0-0 following the victory.
