Floyd Mayweather Jnr: 'Saul Alvarez will be a star, but I'll beat him'

Floyd Mayweather Jnr tips Saul Alvarez to be a star in boxing but says that his own unbeaten record will remain intact after they clash in Las Vegas on Sunday morning.

Floyd Mayweather Jnr has declared that Saul Alvarez will be a star in boxing, but claimed that he will defeat the Mexican this Sunday.

The two clash in an eagerly anticipated bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, with Alvarez's WBC, WBA and Ring Magazine Super Welterweight World Championships on the line alongside Mayweather's WBA Super Welterweight title.

The unbeaten 'Money' told reporters that his perfect record will remain intact after the fight has ended.

Mayweather said: "[Alvarez] is not the future [of boxing], but he's still going to be a star after he loses on Saturday. When I'm in a fight like this I'm not losing.

"You don't think I could go to the Alamodome and sell it out? I give Canelo (Alvarez) credit for showing up on September 14 and that's it.

"This is not just a fight, this is what we call an event. These people play a major key to my success. This is the Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions show, and we now run boxing."

Mayweather's last fight, his 44th professional victory, was a unanimous points victory over Robert Guerrero back in May.
