WBC and WBA super world light middleweight champion Saul Alvarez has declared that he will "change history" by becoming the first man to defeat Floyd Mayweather this Saturday.
The 23-year-old Mexican, who is also undefeated in 42 fights, said that he is not worried about being able to rise to the occasion when he steps into the ring at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.
"This fight can change history, when I win this fight it will be a memorable win. This is what is motivating me," The Mirror quotes Alvarez as saying.
"I'm not worried about the occasion. In my career I've always been able to focus very well despite being in some very tough fights. I'm a fighter who has always been very strong mentally and very cold in my thoughts.
"As a fighter you only want to face the best and at this moment in time Floyd Mayweather is considered the best. And the only way you become the best is by beating the best, so I'm looking forward to it."
Mayweather has claimed that this will not be the toughest fight of his 44-fight career, but 'Canelo' is not fazed by his opponents comments, which he believes is just bravado.
"I think the way Mayweather is talking he is underestimating me but deep down I think he is very worried," he added.
"It's good Mayweather is saying that this won't be the toughest fight of his career, the day he gets up in the ring with me he'll see whether it's a tough fight or not."
Alvarez beat Austin Trout in his previous bout, while Mayweather overcame Robert Guerrero in May.
