Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that discussions have begun over an all-British bout between Amir Khan and Kell Brook.
Khan, 25, is looking to rebuild his career after suffering losses to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia in his last two fights, although the former has since been stripped of his WBA Championship title following a failed drugs test.
Meanwhile, undefeated Brook is one of the brightest talents in the welterweight division, having won all of his 28 professional bouts.
The two recently exchanged heated words on Sky Sports boxing programme Ringside, and Hearn has said that talks have since taken place about a potential 2013 meeting.
Hearn said: "I spoke with Khan's team a month or so ago and again after their appearance on Ringside. It is certainly a fight that can be made.
"It's too big to be ignored and it's only a matter of time before the public virtually insist on Brook vs. Khan happening."
Brook faces Argentine Hector Saldivia in an IBF welterweight world title eliminator on October 20, while Khan is next scheduled to fight against Carlos Molina on December 15.
