Atlanta Falcons too strong for Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Atlanta Falcons beat NFC South rivals the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 27-17 in the NFL.

The Atlanta Falcons have clinched a 27-17 win over NFC South rivals the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL this evening.

Patrick Murray opened the scoring with a short field goal towards the end of the first quarter, but the visitors edged ahead early in the second when Steven Jackson powered over from a yard out.

Matt Ryan attempted to find Harry Douglas on the Falcons' next drive to extend their advantage, but the wide receiver could not hold onto the ball, leaving Matt Bryant to kick a field goal.

The hosts were back on level terms shortly before half time when Josh McCown spotted Mike Evans in space downfield, firing the ball to the rookie.

However, Ryan got Atlanta back into field goal range late on, allowing Bryant to kick the visitors back ahead at half time.

The kicker was involved again early in the third quarter, but the Buccaneers took the lead when a deep ball found Austin Seferian-Jenkins on the edge of the endzone.

The lead did not last long though, as Ryan found Roddy White on the sideline, and the veteran receiver ran it all the way back to put Atlanta back in front.

McCown attempted to throw a touchdown pass to Vincent Jackson at the back corner to give them a chance of a late comeback, but the pass was intercepted.

The result gives the Falcons their first win on the road this season, and leaves them unbeaten against their divisional rivals, while the Buccaneers sit bottom with a 1-8 record.
