Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has insisted that he does not take his position at the club for granted.
The Steelers have had just three head coaches in the history of their franchise including Tomlin, who has been in charge at the club since the 2007 season.
Tomlin has admitted that, despite the Rooney family's patience with their coaches, he knows that the club have to get back to the playoffs this season, having missed out in the past two years.
The 42-year-old is determined to avoid the fate of Todd Haley, Dick LeBeau and Mike Munchak, who are on his staff at the Steelers, in becoming in a former head coach.
"I don't assume that," Tomlin told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "Hopefully [when the season ends], I'm not one of them."
The Steelers finished with an 8-8 record in the 2013 season after losing the first four games of the campaign.
