New York Giants snap up David Buehler, the former Dallas Cowboys placekicker.

Former Dallas Cowboys placekicker David Buehler has signed for the New York Giants, the club has confirmed.

He is expected to provide competition for current kicker Lawrence Tynes, who will be in the final year of his contract next season.

Buehler did not play in the NFL last year as he failed a medical after surgery in December 2011.

He led the NFL in touchbacks in 2009 with 29 and made 24 of 32 field-goal attempts in 2010, both for the Cowboys.
