Da'Quan Bowers hopeful of New Orleans Saints opportunity

Free agent defensive end Da'Quan Bowers is upbeat that he has the talent to be a good option for an NFL team in the 2015 season.

Free agent defensive end Da'Quan Bowers is hopeful that he did enough at a tryout with the New Orleans Saints to earn a place on their roster.

The 25-year-old was allowed to leave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the end of the 2014 season after an underwhelming four seasons at the club.

Bowers visited the Saints in the hope of earning a spot on their roster for the 2015 season, and is upbeat over his future in the NFL.

"It's way different than a tryout," Bowers told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "You can really show what you can do.

"You get to show how well you can retain information. It's just like being in a veteran camp. You get to go on the field and practice and show what you can do.

"I'm sure there's an opportunity. If there wasn't, I don't think they would have brought me in. We'll see where it goes. Hopefully they'll like what they see, and we'll move forward when the time is right."

Bowers has recorded 66 tackles and seven sacks in his four seasons in the NFL.
