New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has admitted that he would love to continue playing in the NFL when he gets into his 40s, as long as his body remains up to it.

Brees is confident that he has the right mental capacity to ensure that he keeps himself as fit as possible for the next five seasons and possibly beyond.

"Do I hope I can play into my 40s? Yes, I do," he told The AP. "As long as I'm healthy and playing at a high level, then why not?

"I certainly don't take it for granted and know that obviously you've got to prove yourself every year."

Brees was drafted into the league in 2001 by San Diego Chargers.
