New England Patriots' Tom Brady 'authorises court action against NFL'

A report suggests that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has given the go-ahead for the NFLPA to file a case in federal court against his deflategate suspension.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has authorised the NFL Players Association to take his case for the deflategate scandal to federal court, according to a report.

The 37-year-old's four-game suspension was upheld by league commissioner Roger Goodell after it was revealed that he provided no evidence to contradict the findings of the investigation by Ted Wells into the incident in his hearing in June.

The NFLPA was considering taking the appeal to federal court following their success in having Adrian Peterson's ban overturned earlier this year, and now Brady has given his authorisation for them to proceed in taking action against the league, reports ESPN.

The league has already moved to have the case confirmed by a federal court in New York to keep jurisdiction away from Minnesota, where Peterson's ban was lifted by judge David Doty.
