Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been reinstated by the NFL, and is therefore allowed to participate in all of the organisation's off-season activities.
Peterson has been on the commissioner's exempt list for seven months, but will now be free to continue his career in the league although it remains unclear as to whether or not he will remain in Minnesota.
In a letter from commissioner Roger Goodell, Peterson was informed that he is expected to continue to fulfil his obligations that came from a meeting between the pair back in April, as well as any obligations to authorities.
"The Minnesota Vikings have been informed by the NFL that Adrian Peterson has been reinstated," the team said in a statement released shortly after the NFL's announcement.
"We look forward to Adrian rejoining the Vikings."
The 30-year-old was indicted in September on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child, while he was then later suspended by the league in November as the investigation and case continued.
The Vikings will start off-season activities on Monday and hold their first mandatory mini-camp in June, but while the Vikings have insisted that their running back will stay, he has indicated a desire to move on.
