Report: Kyle Shanahan unlikely to join Cleveland Browns

Former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan will reportedly miss out on the offensive coordinator job with the Cleveland Browns.

Kyle Shanahan has reportedly dropped out of the running to be the Cleveland Browns' new offensive coordinator after meeting with the team.

NFL.com reports that the former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator had an interview with the AFC North side yesterday, as did Oakland Raiders quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo.

Media insider Ian Rapoport told NFL Network: "My understanding is that it is a long shot for [Shanahan] to be able to land the Browns job. I'm told the meeting did not exactly go as planned, and I would be surprised if the Browns made a move and hired either of these guys quickly.

"What I would think the Browns do, based on talking to people close to the situation, is go back and interview a couple more candidates."

Last week, Mike Pettine was named as the team's new head coach.
