Tony Smith hails Warrington Wolves defence following win over Leeds Rhinos

Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith credits his team's defensive performance with their 18-6 win over Leeds Rhinos in Super League.

Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith has hailed his side's defensive performance during their win over Leeds Rhinos in the Super League.

The Wolves ended Leeds's 100% start to the season on Friday night as they earned an 18-6 victory at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

While he believes that his whole team put in impressive individual displays, Smith admits that their efforts at the back played a big part in the result.

"There was a little improvement in our kicking game, some improvement in our attack and a huge improvement in our defence," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "We were on it tonight. I thought Matty Russell was great and Daryl Clark was a big contributor but we had a lot of good performers."

Warrington continue their Super League campaign on Thursday with a trip to St Helens.
