The chief executive of the Professional Jockeys Association has welcomed an invitation to talk with racing chiefs over new whipping laws.
A number of jockeys are planning to strike on Monday after new rules were put in place to curb excessive use of the whip on horses.
Top jockey Richard Hughes last night (Thursday) relinquished his riding licence after he received his second ban in four days at Kempton.
Now, PJA chief Kevin Darley has welcomed proposals from the British Horseracing Authority for representatives to talk on Monday.
"We are pleased that the BHA board will meet the representatives of jockeys so that together we can resolve the current issues concerning the whip rules," said Darley. "It is imperative for the sport that these matters are settled as soon as possible."
Darley also urged jockeys to ride their scheduled races on Monday.
