Experienced jockey Richard Hughes and apprentice Kieren Fox have become the first riders to be suspended under new guidelines regarding the use of the whip.
Riding at Salisbury this afternoon, Irishman Hughes received a five-day ban from racing for over-use of the whip while aboard Swift Blade.
Youngster Fox has been suspended for 15 days for the same offence while guiding Orthodox lad to victory at the same meeting.
Both will also lose their riding fees and prize winning money.
