Charlton Athletic players to refund fans

Charlton Athletic captain Johnnie Jackson vows to reimburse fans who travelled to see the Addicks thumped 5-0 in Huddersfield on Tuesday.

Charlton Athletic's playing squad have promised to refund fans who travelled to Yorkshire last night to see them thumped 5-0 by Huddersfield Town.

The result left the Addicks without a league win in nine games and ultimately cost interim manager Karel Fraeye his job.

Writing on Twitter, Charlton captain Johnnie Jackson apologised to the 166 supporters who made the trip North and vowed to reimburse them for their £23 match tickets.

"I know words are cheap but on behalf of myself and the players,I want to apologise for tonight. It was disgraceful and you deserve better," he said.

"We are going to reimburse fans who travelled up to support us.I will arrange this with the club + they will let you know how to be refunded."

The London side are now 23rd in the Championship, three points from safety.
