Jenson Button: 'I want to be a part of the family'

Jenson Button insists that he wants to feel "part of the family" as reports continue to indicate that he will leave McLaren at the end of the season.

Jenson Button has insisted that he just wants to feel like a "part of the family" as the speculation surrounding his future with McLaren continues to steal focus from his bid to end the season well.

The 2009 world champion will reportedly move aside to make room for Fernando Alonso at the end of the campaign, but he has dismissed suggestions that money is the key factor in his next move.

"You should get what you deserve. I feel I bring a lot to a team, not just in terms of results, but in terms of marketing within a team and working with sponsors, and how I can help develop a car," Button is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"You want to feel like you are wanted within a team and part of the family. It's like if your parents were to turn round and say 'You know what, we're not sure if we want you at Christmas this year. But your brother can come, he's great'. You know what I mean.

"You want to feel like you are part of the family, and they want you to be part of the family, and that's more important than cash."

Button has scored 106 points this season, while McLaren teammate Kevin Magnussen has only managed to collect 55.
