Lee Hughes switches to Worcester City

Ex-West Bromwich Albion centre-forward Lee Hughes agrees a move to National League North outfit Worcester City.

Worcester City have completed the signing of former West Bromwich Albion striker Lee Hughes.

The 39-year-old only joined Ilkeston last month, but he has now switched to the National League North strugglers.

"Lee has been on our radar for the past six months and we feel that it is blatantly obvious to all regular watchers of Worcester City that a main problem area is our threat up front," joint manager Carl Heeley told the club's official website.

"Younger players with potential are an important part of our squad but they will require experienced players around them to help them develop. Lee might be 39 but he is in unbelievable shape and loves playing the game, he is also a very bubbly character who will give everyone a huge lift within the changing room."

Hughes, who made over 600 appearances as a professional, scored three goals for Ilkeston.
