Wolves transfer news: Besiktas star on radar ahead of winter window deadline?

Wolverhampton Wanderers are allegedly contemplating whether to make an approach for one of Besiktas' star men before the end of the winter transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have allegedly identified Besiktas playmaker Rafa Silva as a potential late transfer target.

With Emmanuel Agbadou the only player through the door at Molineux since his arrival, recently-appointed head coach Vitor Pereira is eager to recruit more fresh faces ahead of the closure of the winter window.

A new centre-back and central midfielder - ideally a player who can take on both roles - are deemed to be the priority roles, yet consideration is also being given further forward.

Just one goal has been netted in defeats to Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Arsenal, leaving Wolves in the Premier League relegation zone.

According to V+ TVI Portugal, Wolves hold an interest in acquiring the services of Silva.

Another Portuguese arrival?

Having ended his legendary stint at Benfica in the summer where he had contributed 94 goals and 79 assists from 326 appearances in all competitions, Silva is now a key player at Besiktas.

Ten goals and seven assists have come from his opening 31 fixtures for the Turkish giants, who have again struggled this campaign and have recently reacted by appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new manager.

With Silva on a deal until 2027, Solskjaer will be against parting ways with the 31-year-old, yet it appears that Besiktas may need to fend off interest in his signature.

Silva provided one goal and two assists during Besiktas' potentially-pivotal 4-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League last week, putting the team in a position where beating FC Twente on Thursday will secure them a spot in the last 24.

Realistically-speaking, club officials may only be willing to do business if Solskjaer's side exit that competition.

Wolves may be in the market for a straight replacement for Carlos Forbs, who could be allowed to return to parent club Ajax over the coming days.

Not the only Besiktas player on the radar...

A report earlier this week suggested that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - also of Besiktas - may be ready to push for a return to the Premier League.

As well as Wolves, Leicester City were regarded as another potential destination. Besiktas are unlikely to consider parting ways with both players at this stage of the transfer window.
