Lewis Holtby: 'Leaving Tottenham Hotspur is a possibility'

Lewis Holtby admits that he may have to leave Tottenham Hotspur if he can't secure first-team football on a regular basis.

Lewis Holtby has admitted that there is a chance he could leave Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the transfer window.

Despite conceding that departing White Hart Lane is a possibility ahead of the Monday deadline, Holtby has insisted that he would prefer to stay at the club and fight for a spot in Mauricio Pochettino's team.

"We're just going to have to see what happens in the next few days and weeks," the 23-year-old told t-online.de. "I'm a young player and I want to be playing all the time. That's very important for me, for my development and for my career.

"Preferably, I would stay here with Tottenham of course and that's why I really hope that I get a chance."

Holtby, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham, moved to Spurs from Schalke in January 2012.
