Andre Villas-Boas: 'Tottenham Hotspur board supports me'

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas downplays reports that he has fallen afoul of the club's board.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has insisted that he has the backing of his players and the club's board of directors.

The Portuguese has been linked with the White Hart Lane exit following his side's 6-0 thrashing away to Manchester City last weekend.

"I have the confidence of the board and players and I have to move on to do a proper job," BBC Sport quotes Villas-Boas as saying.

The former Chelsea boss went on to admit that he has met with the board following the defeat at City, but downplayed reports that he is under fire.

"The only conversation [the board and I] had recently was two or three days ago," he added. "The board is of the same opinion that everything went wrong and we hope to get some response in the future.

"It was an ordinary meeting. We only spoke very briefly about the game."

Villas-Boas also said he is unconcerned that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has not publicly supported him, insisting that to do so is "not his style".
