Tim Sherwood prepared for threat of West Ham United

Tim Sherwood insists that his Tottenham Hotspur side will be prepared for the threat posed by West Ham United.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Tim Sherwood has insisted that his players will be ready for the threat posed by West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs were knocked out of the Capital One Cup by the Hammers in Sherwood's first game in charge in December, but he claims that they will not make the same mistakes at White Hart Lane.

"Obviously, the League Cup game was my first and we dominated but got suckered by a couple of long balls forward, and that's what West Ham are all about," Sherwood told the club's website. "We're expecting that.

"You have to stay switched on because the transition of play into your back four can happen very quickly.

"The players are aware, we've worked on defending crosses, winning second balls in the midfield and when we get the ball, we need to play our normal game. We need to break quickly and that's what we'll try to implement."

Sherwood's side are currently sixth in the Premier League table with two games remaining in their season.
