Demba Ba keen to make return to international action

Besiktas striker Demba Ba says that he 'loves serving his country' and would be open to making a return to international action with Senegal in the near future.

Demba Ba remains hopeful that he can make a welcome return to international football with Senegal after revealing that he has held talks with new manager Aliou Cisse.

The former Newcastle United and Chelsea striker, who is now plying his trade in Turkey with Besiktas, failed to make the cut for the Teranga Lions' Africa Cup of Nations squad earlier this year following a public dispute with former coach Alain Giresse.

It has been four months since Ba last represented his country, although, with a new man now at the helm, he is open to making a comeback.

"I spoke to Aliou Cisse and I made it clear that my absence from the national team was not a self-imposed exile," BBC Sport quotes the 29-year-old as saying. "I cannot reveal what was discussed but it was very encouraging and he was happy to know I am available for selection.

"The coach made it clear that Senegal's interest must always take precedence over personal interest. As gentlemen we both agreed that our country comes first and that's what really matters.

"I love serving my country and when I get a chance I will return to the national team, right now there is no problem. The mood is good and whatever happens from here, if it happens, would be fantastic."

Ba has made an instant impression at Besiktas this season, scoring 19 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.
