Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Sevilla

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's La Liga clash with Sevilla.

Real Madrid will attempt to bounce back from Wednesday's 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain when they travel to Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday night.

Madrid's 2019-20 Champions League campaign got off to a poor start in Paris, but Zinedine Zidane's side have made a decent start to their league season - collecting eight points from four games to sit third.

Sevilla currently lead the division with 10 points, and therefore Los Blancos could end the weekend top of the pile, although that outcome would rely on other teams dropping points.

Madrid's last league game ended in a 3-2 home win over Levante on September 14, while they have collected four points from their two away fixtures at the start of the new season.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the match.

Luka Modric

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: September 22 (vs. Sevilla)

Luka Modric picked up a thigh problem on international duty with Croatia, and the midfielder missed last weekend's clash with Levante in addition to the European tie against PSG. The 34-year-old has an outside chance of being available on Sunday night, although Zidane might have to make a late call.

Marco Asensio

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Marco Asensio faces a battle to play again this season after suffering a serious knee injury during preparations for the 2019-20 campaign. The 23-year-old's absence is a big miss for the capital giants.

Brahim Diaz

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: September 22 (vs. Sevilla)

Brahim Diaz again missed out against PSG with a groin problem, and the attacker is yet to play this season due to the troublesome issue. The 20-year-old could make the bench against Sevilla, although next week's home game against Osasuna might be more realistic for the former Manchester City attacker.

Isco

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: September 22 (vs. Sevilla)

Isco recently picked up a hamstring strain in training, missing the team's last three matches as a result. The 27-year-old is again a doubt to recover in time for the Sevilla clash, although he is back in training.

Marcelo

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Neck
Possible return date: September 22 (vs. Sevilla)

Marcelo missed Wednesday's European tie with PSG due to a neck injury that he picked up against Levante in the league last time out. The 31-year-old could return for Sunday's clash with the table-toppers, though.

Federico Valverde

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: September 22 (vs. Sevilla)

Federico Valverde is a major doubt with a muscular problem that he suffered while on international duty with Uruguay. The 21-year-old's expected absence further highlights Zidane's selection issues in midfield.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Nacho and Sergio Ramos were both banned for the clash with PSG but are available for this match. As a result, Zidane has no suspension issues heading into the game at the Estadio Ramon.
