Harry Redknapp wants QPR fans to give Mark Hughes "good reception"

Harry Redknapp hopes that former QPR boss Mark Hughes gets a "good reception" when he takes his Stoke City side to Loftus Road on Saturday.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp believes that Mark Hughes deserves a "good reception" from the supporters when he returns to Loftus Road this weekend as Stoke City boss.

The Welshman spent 10 months in charge of QPR after joining the club back in January 2012, but a poor start to the 2012-13 campaign, which resulted in 12 games without a win, spelled the end for Hughes.

Despite Hughes's failure to move QPR forward following a splurge on new players, Redknapp, who replaced the coach in November 2012, believes that the Welshman should be respected.

"I hope he gets a good reception," Redknapp said in this morning's press conference. "He's a top manager. They did okay in his first year here then they had a difficult second season, we've all had that. He's doing an excellent job at Stoke, the same as he has done at most clubs he has been at.

"Stoke are a strong side, they went to Manchester City and won, not many teams will do that I saw them at Leicester and I thought they played ever so well. It will be a tough game but I think we have a chance against anybody at home."

Stoke are currently one point ahead of QPR in the Premier League table after four games.
