Nottingham Forest hope to appoint new manager by end of next week

Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi hopes to appoint a new boss by the end of next week, but insists that he will not "interfere" in team matters.

Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi has revealed that the club are hopeful of appointing a successor to Billy Davies by the end of next week.

Al Hasawi has taken to Twitter to clarify that he has no plans to "interfere" with team matters following the news that Stuart Pearce has ruled himself out of contention.

Prior to Pearce's rejection, Neil Warnock opted to turn down the job as he felt that he would not be able to manage the team in his own way.

Commenting on Forest's current status, Al Hasawi tweeted: "I would like to categorically state I have no desire to interfere in team affairs. The manager's job is to manage.

"Hopefully by the end of next week we will have a new manager in place. I am working closely with [advisor] John McGovern on a daily basis.

"We don't want to rush into a decision. We have to get the right man, and we are prepared to wait to achieve that. In the meantime we must all stay behind Gary Brazil. There are important games ahead and the playoffs are still within reach."

Forest are currently seventh in the Championship table, two points adrift of a playoff place.
