Stuart Pearce confirms Nottingham Forest rejection for "personal reasons"

Stuart Pearce confirms that he has ruled himself out of the running to become Billy Davies's successor at Nottingham Forest due to "personal reasons".

Former England Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce has confirmed that he has ruled himself out of the running to become Nottingham Forest's new manager.

Reports emerged this morning claiming that the apparent frontrunner for the role had turned down the opportunity.

The 51-year-old has now spoken about his decision to drop out of contention following talks with the Championship outfit.

Pearce told talkSPORT: "I've had a chat with them and, at this moment in time for personal reasons, I've decided not to take it any further."

Forest have been in the hunt for a new manager this week after deciding to part ways with Billy Davies on Monday following last weekend's 5-0 defeat to Derby County.

The club have been linked with coaches Malky Mackay and Gianfranco Zola.
