Former Wolves and Scotland striker Chris Iwelumo retires from professional football.

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Scotland striker Chris Iwelumo has announced his retirement from professional football.

The 36-year-old had recently been playing for Chester FC after signing a short-term deal with the Conference Premier side.

Iwelumo turned out for a total of 18 clubs during his professional career, including Stoke City, Charlton Athletic, Wolves, Burnley and Watford. He also made four appearances for Scotland.

"Chris has had a glittering career in football for over 20 years," chairman Grenville Millington told Chester's official website. "I'm sure that he retires with a heavy heart but I've no doubt that he will continue his relationship with professional football for many years to come."

Iwelumo ends his professional career having scored over 100 goals in more than 500 games.
