Keylor Navas has revealed that he never thought about leaving Real Madrid to join Manchester United, despite reports suggesting that the goalkeeper was close to a move.
David de Gea was close to joining Rafael Benitez's side on deadline day, with Navas to be sent in the opposite direction, only for the move to collapse due to paperwork being filed late.
However, the Costa Rican goalkeeper insists that he never intended on leaving the Spanish club.
"I never thought of leaving Real Madrid," Navas said, according to Goal.com.
"I always wanted to stay here. I am happy here and hope to stay for many years in this shape.
"The transfer to United was complicated, it is not a comfortable situation. But it's now over to me and I am just trying to be focused on the present. That's the only thing it matters. I am aware the fans always backed me in any situation."
De Gea has since signed a new four-year deal with the Red Devils, which has a rumoured £30m buyout clause.
