Barcelona are priced out of a summer move for Manchester United attacker Mason Greenwood, according to a report.

Barcelona have reportedly been priced out of a summer move for Mason Greenwood, with Manchester United demanding €60m (£51.9m) for his signature during the upcoming market.

The 22-year-old has impressed on loan at Getafe during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring 10 goals and registering six assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.

As it stands, Greenwood will return to his parent club this summer, but it is understood that there is no future for him at Old Trafford despite recent comments from Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Man United's new minority shareholder recently suggested that there could be a route for the Englishman back into the first team next season, but it is still believed to be highly unlikely that he will play for the club again.

Getafe president Angel Torres has expressed a desire to keep Greenwood for another season, but another loan deal is not expected to be sanctioned, with Man United now looking to sell him.

Greenwood 'set to leave Man United on a permanent basis'

According to Marca, Barcelona are keen on Greenwood's signature, but the Catalan outfit are not in a position to pay the €60m (£51.9m) that Man United are demanding due to their financial issues.

Xavi's side are therefore allegedly out of the race, while Atletico Madrid are yet to make a move despite expressing an interest in his signature.

The report claims that Greenwood wants to make the move to a Champions League club, with Juventus and AC Milan also believed to be keen.

However, the Red Devils academy product could transfer to the Saudi Pro League, with senior officials from the division pushing to take him away from European football.

Barcelona 'priced out of a move for Greenwood'

Greenwood has represented Man United on 129 occasions, scoring 35 goals and registering 12 assists in the process, with his last appearance coming against West Ham United in the Premier League in January 2022.

Two years ago, following accusations from a woman, the forward was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

Greenwood was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but the case against him was dropped in February 2023.

The Red Devils academy product was therefore allowed to resume his career this season, and Man United had allegedly made the decision to bring him back into their first team last year before being forced into a U-turn due to the reaction of the public.

Greenwood has eight goals and six assists in 29 La Liga appearances this season, while he managed two goals in three appearances in the Copa del Rey.
