Michael Owen: 'I'd go for David Moyes to manage Manchester United'

Michael Owen picks David Moyes as his favourite to manage Manchester United ahead of Jose Mourinho.

Michael Owen has become the latest ex-Manchester United player to tip David Moyes to replace Sir Alex Ferguson as the club's new manager.

It was confirmed this morning that 71-year-old Ferguson would step down from a position that he has held for almost 27 years at the end of the current season.

Both Moyes and Mourinho are the current favourites for the role, but Owen has admitted that he would pick the Everton boss over his Portuguese counterpart.

"What an act to follow. I guess only Mourinho would have the confidence to strut through the door. If it were me, I'd go for Moyes," the striker wrote on Twitter.

Another former United player, Clayton Blackmore, has also backed Moyes to take the vacancy.
