David Moyes: 'Adnan Januzaj must stop blaming others'

Sunderland manager David Moyes tells new signing Adnan Januzaj that he "needs to stop blaming everyone else" as he bids to rebuild his career.

Sunderland manager David Moyes has told new recruit Adnan Januzaj that he "needs to stop blaming everyone else" as he bids to get his career back on track.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakout season under Moyes - then in charge at Manchester United - in 2013-14 before falling out of favour and losing form under his successor Louis van Gaal.

New United boss Jose Mourinho does not see Januzaj as part of his short-term plans at Old Trafford, and sanctioned the Belgian's reunion with Moyes in the North-East as part of a season-long loan deal.

"It's a big boost because he has real quality," Moyes told reporters of Januzaj's arrival. "He can turn games and I'm determined to get him back to the level he was a couple of years ago.

"I've told him he needs to stop blaming everyone else, he needs to mature into a team player. If he shows he's playing for the team, everyone will take to him because he's such a talent.

"He reminds me a little of Chris Waddle in the sense he has movement, can beat people from a standing start and can play on either wing."

Januzaj could make his Sunderland debut tomorrow when the Black Cats travel to Manchester City for their first game of the new campaign.
