Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand insists that the club have a history of delivering trophies that no other club can match.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has declared that tradition and history help to keep the Premier League champions hungry for success.

Ferdinand has won 14 trophies across 11 seasons at Old Trafford, including six domestic titles and a Champions League crown.

The 34-year-old has insisted that any player considering a move away from United, including unsettled striker Wayne Rooney, should think twice about what they would be leaving behind.

He told The Sun: "I don't see where you go better from here. For instance, Cristiano Ronaldo has been ridiculous as a football player individually but has he won more trophies since leaving than what we've won?

"It was his dream to go there, so you have to respect that. But I just look at things in a black and white way. I want to win trophies so why would I leave here?

"It's the history. If you get asked to come to Manchester United, I see it as a no-brainer. I wanted to come because of that history."

Before beginning his 12th campaign with United the centre-back will mark his achievements with a testimonial match against Sevilla at Old Trafford, which will take place on August 9.
