Team News: Ross Barkley benched for Everton's trip to Manchester City

Roberto Martinez drops Ross Barkley to the bench for Everton's Premier League trip to Manchester City, who have Edin Dzeko among the substitutes after injury.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has benched reported Manchester City target Ross Barkley for their Premier League trip to the Etihad Stadium this evening.

Seamus Coleman, who has spent almost his entire Toffees career playing at right-back, has been pushed further forward, with Tony Hibbert recalled in defence.

In the only other Everton change from their 1-1 draw with Hull City in midweek, Leon Osman drops out for Samuel Eto'o, who will play behind Romelu Lukaku.

The hosts have Edin Dzeko and Aleksander Kolarov, both of whom have been missing during City's four-match winning streak, back as substitutes following injuries.

Manuel Pellegrini makes three changes from the starting XI which won 4-1 at Sunderland as Fernando and James Milner replace Fernandinho and Stevan Jovetic, while Eliaquim Mangala returns from suspension.

Fourteen-goal striker Sergio Aguero will lead the line on his own as the Citizens seek to capitalise on Chelsea's slip up at Newcastle United by moving to within three points of the Blues at the top of the table.

Man City: Hart; Zabaleta, Demichelis, Mangala, Clichy; Fernando, Yaya Toure, Navas, Nasri, Milner; Agüero
Subs: Caballero, Pozo, Dzeko, Kolarov, Boyata, Lampard, Sagna

Everton: Howard; Hibbert, Distin, Jagielka, Baines; Barry, Besic; Coleman, Mirallas, Eto'o; Lukaku
Subs: Joel, McGeady, Barkley, Osman, Pienaar, Garbutt, Alcaraz
