Michael Laudrup has no ambition to leave Swansea City for a top European club, despite being linked with the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup has insisted that he has no great ambition to manage one of the top European sides, and wants to remain at the club.

Laudrup's impressive first season in South Wales has seen him linked with the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has even admitted that he will look at potential replacements, but Laudrup says that leaving is not in his thoughts, ahead of this afternoon's League Cup final.

"I have a lot of ambitions with the team I have," Laudrup told The Independent. "But I have no special dream to go to a top team.

"Let's say I had the ambition to be manager one day of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea or whatever. Finally I arrive, I finish second, I go out of the Champions League semi-finals on penalties, I lose the national cup final 2-1.

"For 10 years I've done everything to get there and after nine months I'm out. Why live for that? I've been there as a player for top clubs. It can be much more pleasure to be somewhere where you don't have to win titles."

Laudrup's agent has claimed that the Dane will open discussions over a new Swansea contract soon.
