Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan says that Manchester City 'must learn' from their 2-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has acknowledged that he and his teammates struggled to cope with Wolverhampton Wanderers' 'defensive tactics' in their Premier League fixture on Sunday.

While the champions had over three quarters of possession, two Adama Traore goals during the closing stages earned Wolves a shock 2-0 win at the Etihad Stadium.

City squandered a number of opportunities to score the first goal, but Gundogan feels that the team 'must learn' from the rare setback in front of their own supporters.

The German is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "We could not put that on the pitch today, that is the fact and it hurts.

"I always feel we can score, especially with the power up front but Wolves were very defensive in the last 10, 15 minutes and it was difficult to put in crosses and the spaces were tiny. It was very difficult to play.

"When you are not able to score the first goal, maybe we get nervous and don't 100% feel the confidence is there and we have to be patient. The challenge now is to learn from that."

City now trail leaders Liverpool in the Premier League standings by eight points.
