Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says that his side will benefit from their 4-0 defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday night.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has claimed that his side's 4-0 defeat to Barcelona was "a good lesson".

City were comfortably beaten at Camp Nou as Lionel Messi netted a hat-trick before Neymar wrapped up the scoring in the closing stages, while City's night was made all the more difficult by the sending-off of goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

However, while disappointed with the result, Guardiola has suggested that his team can learn from losing heavily to the La Liga giants.

The 45-year-old told reporters: "I know from the beginning that when Claudio makes mistakes they make the papers. Claudio has to fight.

"Until the first goal, when Ferna slipped, the game was under control and we were playing really well but it's a good lesson.

"When we have the ball and arrive in the box we need to be more aggressive. When you have a man sent off, it's about surviving."

Guardiola has also defended his decision to drop top goalscorer Sergio Aguero.
