A disgruntled Jurgen Klopp insists that the penalty conceded by Liverpool against Everton in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Anfield should not have been awarded.

Jurgen Klopp has defiantly claimed that the penalty conceded by Liverpool against Everton in Sunday's 1-1 draw should not have been awarded.

The Reds took the lead in the Merseyside derby through Mohamed Salah's 42nd-minute strike and dominated the contest from start to finish.

In the second half, however, Dominic Calvert-Lewin was bundled over by Dejan Lovren inside the box, leading referee Craig Pawson to point to the spot, and Wayne Rooney duly converted from 12 yards.

Klopp appeared visibly disgruntled in his post-match interview with Sky Sports News and suggested that the reporter on duty lacked footballing knowledge.

"Lovren doesn't make a challenge," said the 50-year-old. "Calvert-Lewin makes a step. The hand is on the back. If you think it is a penalty say so. Does my opinion change anything?

"I only want to speak to people with a little bit of understanding about football. I am sorry, I am wrong and you are right. Obviously I am not in the mood to answer questions."

The result keeps Liverpool fourth in the Premier League table, two points behind third-placed Chelsea.
