Liverpool were the better side in the three league games they dropped points from and could have won every encounter so far this season, according to Ray Houghton.

Former Liverpool midfielder Ray Houghton has claimed that the Reds could have a 100% record in the Premier League so far as they have been the better side in all of their games.

The Merseyside outfit are currently second in the table, behind Arsenal on goal difference, after picking up 20 points from nine games.

Liverpool have lost once in the league this season, to Burnley, and shared the points in their games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

Houghton, who played at Anfield between 1987 and 1992, told Sky Sports News: "So far they could have won every game they've played. Burnley, they had 80 per cent possession, but didn't convert it into chances or goals.

"They went to Spurs, drew there and they were by far the better team. Manchester United, probably the best chances, Coutinho's shot was well saved by De Gea. Emre Can's effort with his left foot where the keeper got down brilliantly to make the save.

"They are the only games they've not won and I thought they'd been the better side in those matches as well."

Liverpool's next Premier League game is a trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday, October 29.
