Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Leeds United

Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League fixture against Leeds United.

Liverpool begin the defence of their Premier League crown with a showdown against newly-promoted Leeds United on Saturday evening.

Despite a lack of transfer activity in comparison to their rivals, the Merseyside giants are confident of retaining the trophy which they won at a canter earlier this summer.

However, as well as losing out to Arsenal in the Community Shield last month, Jurgen Klopp is also having to deal with a number of fitness issues ahead of the season opener.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of squaring off against Marcelo Bielsa's side.

Jordan Henderson

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: September 12 (vs. Leeds United)

Having failed to play a part during pre-season and the Community Shield, Henderson is struggling to make his team's opening fixture. Although Klopp has acknowledged that preparations for the England international have not been ideal, he will be provided with every chance to feature in the squad.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Having sustained an issue with his knee during the club's pre-season tour of Austria, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out of the meeting with the Yorkshire giants. Klopp is yet to hint at a return date, instead only comparing the injury to the one suffered by Henderson in July.

Konstantinos Tsimikas

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: September 20 (vs. Chelsea)

Having tested positive for coronavirus while on international duty with Greece, Tsimikas will be unable to make his Liverpool debut at the weekend. However, as it stands, the left-back could feature in the squad for the following game against Chelsea.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Status: Out
Type of injury: Undisclosed
Possible return date: Unknown

At a time when he has been linked with a transfer away from Anfield, Shaqiri has picked up an undisclosed injury which will keep him sidelined for the weekend.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Liverpool have no players suspended for this match.
