Former England captain David Beckham is reportedly lined up as a potential owner by two new MLS franchises.

Former England captain David Beckham is reportedly being lined up as a potential owner by two new MLS franchises.

Beckham moved to the States in 2007 when he joined Los Angeles Galaxy from Real Madrid.

He played his final game for Galaxy last week as he helped the Californian side beat Houston Dynamo in the MLS Cup final.

However, his stay in America may not be over yet, as it is understood that the contract he signed when he joined Galaxy included an option to become a future owner of an MLS franchise.

There are plans to establish new teams in New York and Miami and, according to the Daily Mail, Beckham has been targeted to be involved in both projects.

Miami previously had a team called Miami Fusion, however the club were removed from the league in 2001.
