AZ Alkmaar edge out Heracles

AZ Alkmaar edge out Heracles 3-1 to move up to fifth in the Eredivisie.

AZ moved up to fifth in the Eredivisie table with a 3-1 win over Heracles this evening.

Aron Johannsson opened the scoring after just nine minutes when he reacted quickest from a corner to nod home.

Steven Berghuis then doubled the lead on 54 minutes but Brahim Darri reduced the deficit with nine minutes remaining.

However, the home side soon restored their two-goal cushion when Markus Henriksen struck with two minutes of normal time remaining.

Elsewhere in the Netherlands, Ajax's title hopes were dealt a blow as they slipped to a 1-0 reverse away to Vitesse.
