Everton boss Sam Allardyce insists that winger Yannick Bolasie needs time and patience in order to find his best form after a lengthy layoff with two serious injuries.

Everton boss Sam Allardyce has called on fans to show some patience with Yannick Bolasie as he continues to recover from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The former Crystal Palace winger spent over a year out after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament while also tearing the meniscus in one of his knees, having made a £28m switch to the Toffees from the London club in 2016.

"Your cruciate ligament, like many long term injuries... when they come back they're expected to be what they were before the injury. While fit it sometimes takes a little bit longer for some than others," Allardyce told Sky Sports News.

"It's taken Yannick a little bit longer to get in his stride, on the reverse of that it hasn't taken Seamus Coleman quite as long.

"We have to just be patient and allow him to get back to his best but the more he plays, the better he'll get."

Bolasie has made just 24 appearances for Everton, scoring twice.
