Wayne Rooney: 'We'll move on to Uruguay game'

England forward Wayne Rooney insists that the squad are ready to "move on" from the Italy defeat and focus on getting all three points against Uruguay.

England striker Wayne Rooney has revealed that the squad are ready to "move on" from the 2-1 defeat to Italy and focus on the next game against Uruguay.

Roy Hodgson's side made a losing start to their World Cup campaign, with Mario Balotelli grabbing the winner for the Azzurri.

England face Uruguay on Thursday evening and Rooney insists that the side's focus is entirely on getting three points from the game to give them a chance of qualifying.

"Going 2-1 behind, we knew it was going to be tough then. Italy are a good team and they make it difficult for you," Rooney told reporters after the game.

"I was disappointed that I didn't score but we always believed we could win. We'll move on. We are looking forward to the game on Thursday and hopefully we can get three points."

England currently sit third in Group D.
